All these bass lines proves that Steve Harris is the man behind the success of Iron Maiden throughout the years. Great composer, but also an amazing and outstanding technician on the bass guitar. All those bass lines demonstrates that Steve Harris is such a unique bassist with playing techniques of his own perfectly created and executed for Iron Maiden's music. The same is surely for his other band, British Lion. Still one of the most influencial bass guitar players today. Steve Harris is an icon and a living legend of the bass guitar.

As a beginner, I reckon they sound more or less same. Sounds pretty Maiden-y even with the stock pickups.

The EMG GZR pickups sound more Iron Maiden-y.

Are these pickups ACTUALLY the pickups used by these artists?

for me, I *really* like pressurewound strings. the tone is perfect for blues, rock, jazz, basically anything where you don't really want maximum brightness, especially on bright basses like Jazz & Stingray, but you don't want the flatwound "thunk" either. & the *feel* is just super. for me they're faster & more comfortable than roundwounds or flats. They're also great for not gooving the crap out of an uncoated fretless fingerboard while still maintaining interesting lively tone.

Ehh no I don’t regret boiling my strings they lasted me for over 2 months and yes they were still bright they lasted longer than new strings and was also brighter than new strings like I’m talking way too bright if I’m being honest it was bette to boil bass strings than to get new ones I don’t regret it at all

Changing from linear to audio taper regardless of Capacitor makes a difference you can feel. Linear seems to have a more sensitive effect as you turn from 0 to 10 you can hear/ feel the variation from 1 to 2 2 to 3 etc up to 9 and 10. Best sound I heard was a Jensen .1uf paper and oil with a CTS linear pot. It was a bit big for the Guitar so I changed it but the recorded tone had a tighter and punchier sound.

I’m a professional bassist, 40 years of experience. I hear very little difference. If it feels better under your fingers and you spend a lot of time on the bass it may be worth the trouble to change it. Otherwise save yourself the trouble and money.

My American 5 string jazz has string through body design. Does hipshot make a bridge that accommodates this?
